The IFMA Houston Experience

"A Joyful Schedule" - Recap

How do you start a new year? Do you start with resolutions? How do you keep those resolutions? Do you re-organize for the new year?

Well, IFMA Houston thought we could try to help our January luncheon attendees start the new decade in a more organized fashion by hosting Ashley Barber, the founder of Simply Maven, as our speaker. Ashley is Houston's first certified KonMari Consultant, and she had a full house at the Kinder Morgan offices downtown.

There was not a single seat available in the room to hear Ashley discuss how to not only de-clutter your office space, your home but also, your to-do list.

Special thanks to Kinder Morgan, for allowing us to use their space for our January meeting and validating our parking for the luncheon.

If you attended this meeting, please take a few minutes to complete the SURVEY, so IFMA Houston's Programs team can know how to improve in the future!

Joint Luncheon with Corenet

Volunteer at the Houston food bank with IFMA Cares

One of IFMA Houston's core values is to give back to our community around us!

Let's start 2020 with that value at the forefront of our minds!

The week before Thanksgiving, the Houston Food Bank suffered a devastating loss after a fan broke in the storage area and leaked ammonia causing them to throw out 1.8 million pounds of food right before their busiest time of the year.

Thankfully, the Houston community stepped up, and the Houston Food Bank was able to replenish some of the food that was lost.

IFMA Houston wants to do our part to help out, too, by putting in some "sweat equity."

ioffice: "What will Workplaces seak out in an iwms in 2020?"

Sponsored by: iOffice

By: Chad Smith

The integrated workplace management system (IWMS) has been an integral platform for nearly two decades, enabling facilities managers and other leaders to connect many disparate software systems.

An IWMS combines essential data into a single software platform, empowering leaders to make more informed decisions about their workplace and real estate portfolio. They can manage their space, gain a deeper understanding of their real estate portfolio and take a proactive approach to preventive maintenance. They can also view energy management metrics, keep track of capital projects and store digital records of all their assets.

While these functions are still critical, today’s workplace leaders are looking for more from their IWMS. Here’s a closer look at what they will expect in 2020 and beyond.

"Managing the Sound and Mitigating the Fury: Strategies for Better Office Acoustics"

IFMA Houston's Programs Committee Chair, Micki Washington, is officially a published writer, and we wanted to share her achievement with the IFMA Houston community!

Typically, our Board of Directors and Committee Chairs work behind the scenes, but when someone within the IFMA Houston community does something GREAT, we want to make sure to take the time to brag about it!

See the article link below that Micki Washington co-authored, along with Lisa Brinkman and Deborah Sperry.

Congratulations, Micki! We couldn't be prouder!

Did you know...

...that the SFP Certificate has no pre-requisites, no renewal costs, and if you are LEED AP it will earn you 30-70 general CE hours towards your LEED maintenance?!?
