Get Involved with IFMA Houston

We Want YOU for Committee Membership

Have you ever wondered how we put together the different events and activities you enjoy?  Have you wanted to get more involved in IFMA but aren’t sure how?  An IFMA Houston Committee may be the answer you’re looking for.

We have openings in all our committees including Associates/Sponsorship, Community Relations, Marketing, Membership, Professional Development, Programs, and Socials.  Contact the Board Member of any and all committees of interest to find out more about opportunities and requirements.

Time is Running Out for Early Bird Sponsorship Deals

Our Chapter Sponsors are key partners for IFMA Houston.  They help fund the events and activities that support our mission to create a professional community that advances Facility Management in Houston.  Click Here to access this year’s sponsorship options.  For questions, contact Linda Warner.

It’s almost time to reveal the 2018/2019 Chapter Sponsors.  Will you be one of them?  Don’t delay!  Early Bird pricing expires August 1st.

Your Space is Amazing - Let's Show it Off!

Do you have a space that you’d like to show off to the IFMA Houston community?  The Associates & Sponsorship Committee is looking for one great space to hold our November luncheon and Chapter Sponsor expo.  If you have a great location, let us know!

An ideal space could be something like an unoccupied floor with active environmental, a gymnasium, or a large conference or gallery area. The space should have:

  • Accommodation for seated lunch presentation for 60-80 people
  • Adjacent or shared space for 16-24 tradeshow tables/displays
  • Sufficient parking options onsite or within a reasonable distance

Event date is November 8, 2018 from 10am to 2pm.  Contact Paul Baker and Kathy Edwards for more information.

Professional Development

In Case of Emergency?

Summer is the time for vacations, longer days, temp workers and internships.  That means lots of people coming and going with many who may not be familiar with your facility.  Does your building/campus have well documented disaster plans and preparedness training?  If not, there’s no time like the present.

OSHA has a complete set of guides, templates, and training on a variety of emergency plan items on their EAP eTools page.

IFMA members can check out the white paper in the IFMA Knowledge Library, The 17 Mistakes Made in Emergency Plans and How to Avoid and Correct Them.  Not an IFMA Member?  Join Now!

In Memoriam

IFMA Houston Remembers Herman Kluge

This month we lost a great friend and member of the IFMA Houston family.  Herman Kluge was a skilled Facility Manager and Project manager.  He was also a Past President of IFMA Houston and an integral part of the chapter board for nearly 20 years.

Mr. Kluge was a leader in Facilities Management including 15 years at AIM Investments (now Invesco), real estate consulting and project management at CB Richard Ellis, and Amegy Bank, where he retired from the industry as a Senior Vice President.  His interests included writing and playing music, mastering the art of the pun, and giving tours of Houston's lesser-known inner city neighborhoods.

To his IFMA family members, Herman was the face of IFMA, welcoming them and encouraging them to succeed.  His wit and humor made even the mundane entertaining.  He will be truly missed.
