Buffalo Bayou Partnership
Transforming Houston’s Most Significant Natural Resource
Founded in 1986 by Houston Mayor Kathy Whitmire, Buffalo Bayou Partnership’s geographic focus is the 10-mile stretch of Buffalo Bayou from Shepherd Drive to the Port of Houston Turning Basin. Over the organization’s 29-year history, the BBP board and staff have raised and leveraged more than $150 million in private and public funds for the bayou’s redevelopment and stewardship. Learn more about these award-winning past projects such as Sabine Promenade and Sesquicentennial Park as well as the soon-to-be completed Buffalo Bayou Park.
This $58 million 160-acre project which stretches from Shepherd Drive to Sabine Street includes major destinations, natural landscaping, footpaths, trail lighting, water features and pedestrian bridges. Construction is underway, and the entire park will be completed in late summer 2015.

SPEAKER: Trudi Smith
Trudi Smith has been the Director of PR and Events with Buffalo Bayou Partnership for over 10 years, and has prior experience with a variety of arts non-profit organizations in the development and special events arena. She graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M. She has been on the Culture & Tourism Committee at Greater Houston Partnership, Strategic Planning Committee at the Architecture Center Foundation, and is a member of the various arts organizations throughout Houston.
Buffalo Bayou Partnership oversees beautification and redevelopment activities along Houston’s historic Buffalo Bayou waterway. Over the past 15 years, BBP and the board of directors have raised and leveraged approximately $150 million in private and public funds for Buffalo Bayou’s redevelopment.
