The IFMA Houston Experience

IFMA Houston's 34th Annual Golf Tournament Recap

On April 19th, IFMA Houston had 130+ Sponsors, Golfers, and Volunteers show up to play golf and help us raise money for FM Education.

With your help, IFMA Houston was able to give 2 lucky students full scholarships to help pay for their education in the Facility Management field.

We had food, beverages, and a GREAT time!

The photos from the event are posted on our website, and we know those who missed the event will have severe "FOMO" once they get a look at what they missed.

If you are interested in a sponsorship for next year's tournament, you can go ahead and complete and commitment form for the 2022 Golf Tournament, and we will contact you in January when the tournament gets closer.

Congratulations to ALL of our players, and THANK YOU to all of our Sponsors!

"Furniture Planning Advil: Best Practices to Manage Furniture Projects & Reduce Headaches"

On May 13th, Dianne Murata, the Founding Principal of Kimiko Designs joined IFMA Houston for our May virtual presentation to discuss furniture planning.

She thoroughly discussed ways facility managers can plan their office space in order to avoid common issues in the office workspace.

Dianne thoroughly covered the different steps each facility manager should take while undertaking a furniture project from cost implications to codes and planning.

For those in attendance, you received an email after the event with a link to the survey, so IFMA Houston could receive your feedback regarding the presentation. Once you complete the survey, you received a link to the recording of the presentation.

SPONSOR ARTICLE: Mohawk Group

Harmful bacteria flourish in areas with heavy foot traffic. Grocery stores, restaurants, schools, retail stores and hospitals all show the presence of dangerous bacteria such as E. coli, salmonella, listeria, staphylococcus aureus and more. A study also revealed that harmful bacteria, including fecal bacteria, was present in every grocery store that scientists tested.

Looking to Network with Other IFMA Houston Members in Transition?

IFMA Houston is working to restart a member group that was established a couple of years ago for those of you who may be in between careers. The member group will meet regularly to discuss the Houston job market, job hunt, and other issues affecting people who are looking for opportunities in the facilities field.

This member group is open to both Professionals and Associates and does not cost anything to join.

IFMA Houston is currently looking to gauge interest in this member group, so if you are interested in joining, please reach out to Bart Surratt via email, and let him know if you are interested in joining!

IFMA Houston's Earth Day Event

On April 23, 2021, the IFMA’s Sustainability Committee joined Buffalo Bayou Partnership for this year’s Earth week volunteer event.  Twelve IFMA members and guests spent the morning pulling native ragweed.

Native ragweed blooms in the Fall and can grow to be 12 feet tall. Pulling them now while the plants are small with shallow roots keeps them from reaching maturity and greatly decrease the pollen spread in the Fall.
